American Airlines flight makes emergency stop in Amarillo due to unknown emergency

In an update from Ross Feinstein, American Airlines spokesman, the replacement plane should arrive in Amarillo about 3:30 p.m. to continue service on to Seattle for passengers from Flight 1627.

“Our team is still reviewing the mechanical issue,” Feinstein said in an email to ABC 7 Amarillo.

Update at 12:07 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2019:

American Airline Flight 1627 outbound from Dallas to Seattle with 188 souls aboard was diverted to Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport because of a mechanical issue, according to American Airlines.

In an email from airline spokesman Ross Feinstein:

American Airlines Flight 1627 from Dallas/Fort Worth to Seattle diverted to Amarillo due a mechanical issue.
The flight landed safely at 9:18 a.m. CT.
A maintenance team is troubleshooting the issue.
We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans, and we are sorry for the trouble this has caused.
The Airbus A321 had 182 passengers (aircraft has 181 seats + 1 infant), six crew members.
Our team is sending another Airbus A321 to Amarillo to continue the trip to Seattle.
Original post at 11:57 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2019:

An American Airlines Airbus carrying as many as 100 passengers declared an emergency Friday morning, Aug. 2, and diverted to Amarillo’s Rick Husband airport.

The plane, with tail number N150NN, was reported to be on a flight from Seattle to Dallas, according to flightaware.com.

All passengers were deplaned to the tarmac and entered a secure area inside the terminal.

Details regarding the type of emergency experienced were not available.

Amarillo Fire Department crews were on the scene.
