In his fifth attempt at the Olympics, Djokovic was able to go the distance and win the elusive singles gold medal. He had reached the semifinal thrice in his previous four attempts but lost on all three occasions. His best finish at an Olympics was a bronze medal. However, at 37, Novak Djokovic had made it his mission to win gold. He accomplished it by getting the better of Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the final at the Court Philippe-Chatrier.

After his win over Alexei Popyrin in the third round at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Novak Djokovic played an imaginary violin using his racquet as a celebration.
