927 Flights This Month: Which US Airlines Fly To Colombia?

For several years, Colombia has stood out as a key tourist destination in South America, attracting a significant number of travelers from the United States. To meet the growing demand, US airlines have expanded their services, offering numerous flights connecting the two countries.

Five US airlines
In August 2024, five airlines based in the US will offer a combined total of 927 scheduled flights to Colombian cities, according to the aviation analytics company Cirium. These carriers include:

American Airlines
JetBlue Airways
Delta Air Lines
Spirit Airlines
United Airlines
Not based in the US, the UAE-based carrier Emirates will also offer 31 scheduled flights between the US and Colombia in August 2024, namely from Miami (MIA) to Bogota (BOG). The Middle Eastern aviation giant will utilize its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER widebodies to operate on the route.

American Airlines leads the way
American Airlines leads the market in the number of flights from the US to Colombia. According to the data, the Dallas-based carrier will operate 403 flights this month, capturing 43% of the market share among its competitors.

American Airlines will operate a total of seven different routes in August. Notably, most of these routes are covered from Miami, the carrier’s third-largest hub, which serves as its primary gateway to South America and the Caribbean.

Miami (MIA) to Bogota (BOG)
Miami (MIA) to Cali (CLO)
Miami (MIA) to Cartagena (CTG)

Of above mentioned routes, the most served routes will be Miami (MIA) to Bogota (BOG) and Miami (MIA) to Medellin (MDE), each with 93 monthly operations this month. For these operations, American Airlines will mostly utilize its Boeing 737 MAX 8 narrowbodies, Boeing 737-800s and Airbus A319s.

Spirit Airlines: 244 flights this month
With 244 scheduled flights between the US and Colombia, Spirit Airlines will capture a 26% share of the market. The low-cost carrier will offer the largest pool of options in terms of the US-Colombia route network this month, with a total of nine routes.

Spirit Airlines’ most served route will be from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Medellin (MDE) with 62 monthly flights.

Other frequently served routes include Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Barranquilla (BAQ), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Bogota (BOG), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Cartagena (CTG), and Orlando (MCO) to Medellin (MDE), each with 31 scheduled operations.

To operate these routes, the budget airline will utilize its fleet of Airbus A320s and Airbus A319s.
