An American Airlines flight AA1552 operating from Dallas to Colorado Springs declared an emergency shortly after takeoff and returned to Dallas on 21 July 2024.

American airlines flight AA1552, a Boeing 737-800 bound for Colorado Springs Airport (COS) made an emergency return immediately after departure.

The flight had made its departure from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) when flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 passing through 2900 feet.

The climb procedure was then terminated and a direct return to Dallas Fort Worth was negotiated by flight crew.

Flight data shows that American Airlines flight AA1552 had made its departure from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport at 0945 local time.

After takeoff, the flight was in the process of setting course for Colorado Springs before terminating the climb and initiating an emergency return.

The flight subsequently returned to the origin airport, landing at 1023 local time.

The nature of the emergency prompting the immediate return is not yet known.
