
A passenger on a bike has died after an early morning accident in Niagara Falls between a cyclist and a motor vehicle.
The collision occurred around 1 a.m. on the roadway of McLeod Road between Alex Avenue and Drummond Road.
Police say the female bike passenger, who was seated in a wagon, was found on the scene in critical condition by emergency responders and transported to hospital where she later died. The victim is reported to be 36 years of age and from Niagara Falls.
The operator of the bike, a 30-year-old man from Niagara Falls, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a 43-year-old female from Thorold, was not injured. The vehicle was reported to be a black 2010 Acura ZDX.
A section of McLeod Road was closed for a few hours this morning due to the investigation. It has since re-opened.
Detectives from Niagara Police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit and its Forensic Services Unit continue to look into the circumstances and cause of the collision.
