During a meeting with the Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA), WestJet shared details of their flight plans for Manitoba’s capital, marking a notable expansion in the airline’s services.

This winter, WestJet will offer flights to 22 destinations from Winnipeg, up from 18 last winter. This increase in capacity represents record growth for the airline in the community and is the largest capacity boost at any Western Canadian airport this season. WestJet CEO, von Hoensbroech, expressed the airline’s commitment to Winnipeg, highlighting its investments and partnership with WAA to improve travel options for both business and leisure travellers.

WestJet has also expanded its domestic services, allowing for more same-day itineraries tailored for Manitoba’s business community. Domestic service to Winnipeg has grown by 43% with new routes connecting to markets across Canada. Notable increases include a 167% rise in flights to Edmonton, 150% to Regina, and 120% to Vancouver.

In addition to domestic flights, WestJet is increasing Winnipeg’s international connectivity this fall and winter with new transborder routes to Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, and several leisure destinations such as Los Cabos. These additions are expected to serve more than 9,000 passengers, linking Winnipeg to popular Latin American and Caribbean markets.

Nick Hays, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Airports Authority, said this is good news for the city’s travellers as it provides more flight options and enhanced convenience for Winnipeggers.
