United Airlines reveals major change affecting how you board plane – and it’s bad news for those without a window seat

UNITED Airlines has revealed a huge change coming to its boarding process and it could be bad news for some customers.

A new policy will shift airplane boarding from front to back and will move to seat types.

Customers in window seats will board an aircraft first, in a bid to make the process more efficient.

This change will be implemented on most flights starting on October 26, according to News 12 New Jersey.

Boarding for economy class will shift as the order that passengers enter will change.

Window seat tickets and exit row fliers will board in group three.

Middle-seat fliers will board after them in group four.

Passengers in an aisle seat will fare worse as they will be the last group of regular economy class to board, and they will be assigned to group five.

Some exceptions will be made, for example, travelers flying together will be able to enter in the same group.

All “basic economy” passengers, regardless of their seats, will be the last travelers to board and they will go in group six.

United is not new to this style of boarding as they used a similar process until 2017.

The airline claimed that since 2019, its average boarding time had increased by two minutes, according to Conde Nast Traveler.

Customers and fliers took to Twitter, formally known as X, to share their positive thoughts on the new change.

One person said: “Finally a logical boarding process.”

Another person said: “Oh, hey look. Airlines and common sense.”

One X user even shared a word of caution to fellow fliers.

They claimed: “Then they also can charge more for window seats.”
