These prerequisites may range from being a certain minimum height to proving oneself as a proficient swimmer in cases of emergency scenarios.
Fortunately, Miva – a TikTok user and crew member at Tui – has shared her top 10 rules that must be adhered to by those aspiring for a sky-high career.Miva, who is based in Stuttgart, uploaded a minute-long video on her account titled “Requirements to become a flight attendant – you guys ask so often”. The foremost condition she emphasised was age.
She stated – “You are aged over 18. Some airlines require a minimum age of 21.”
She also highlighted that visible tattoos or piercings were typically not permitted, although she conceded that some airlines might allow them if they can be covered. “You speak and write English fluently. Additional languages are advantageous but not always a requirement,” was another rule that she revealed.Furthermore, Miva, boasting a following of 36,500, stated having a valid passport as well as being confident in water are essentials because – “yes, that will be checked during the training”. In addition to these preconditions, the ability to “handle various situations and people while remaining professional”, along with exuding a “resilient, flexible and friendly” demeanour, are equally necessary.For anyone who doesn’t enjoy the thought of working all year round without regular breaks, Miva’s next advice might be crucial: “You [must be] okay with working throughout the entire year, without weekends and fixed off days.”
Other considerations include being a “minimum height of 1.6m” and “physically fit”, as well as having “a visual acuity of +/- 5 diopters”.
