Tyson Fury Has ‘100% Respect’ For Heavyweight Rival He’s Yet To Face: “He’s A Superstar”

Tyson Fury is in camp and preparing for his much-anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The pair fought for the first time back in May in the first undisputed contest for almost 25 years.

Usyk was the man that came out on top and handed ‘The Gypsy King’ his first-ever professional loss. It was a close contest that was largely decided by the ninth round in which Usyk sent Fury onto the ropes where he was given a 10 count which allowed the Ukranian to come out as the points winner.

Fury said in the aftermath that he was having too much fun in the ring and that he would be more focused in the rematch in December.

One other boxer he has not yet fought is Anthony Joshua, and he has previously explained to Boxing King Media how much respect he has for his fellow Brit, and it stems from where Joshua has come from and got himself to.

“I remember Ola Afolabi, former cruiserweight champion, he gave me a pair of Winning boxing gloves when I was first turning pro, they were all f***ed up, all ripped, and I wore them for another four years. I was like ‘a world champion gave me these, they are unbelievable’, I wore them until they literally rotted off of my hands. To go from that to where I am now, that’s living proof that anyone can do it.

AJ is the same, he’s come from the estate, come from nothing, from Nigerian parents, came from a foreign country to England. He’s come from the ghetto, and he’s made his way up to become a global superstar. If that doesn’t deserve 100% respect, then I don’t know what does.”

Should Fury win his rematch, and if Joshua is able to defeat Daniel Dubois in September, these two giants of the sport could finally come together for an undisputed clash next year.
