NEW YORK (PIX11) – JetBlue is expanding its footprint by serving Long Island MacArthur Airport for the first time and offering direct flights to Florida, the company announced on Tuesday.

Only three other airlines serve Long Islands’s airport, according to its website. To celebrate the expansion, JetBlue is offering a $49 one-way fare, available exclusively through its website.

“It’s no secret that Long Island loves JetBlue. For years, residents have asked, and we’ve been listening,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “Our airport is one of our region’s greatest economic assets, and JetBlue’s success at ISP will certainly enrich our community and beyond. Long Island cannot wait to open its doors to the visitors that will come to New York by way of ISP – Long Island’s hometown airport.”

JetBlue already offers service at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports.

Beginning Oct. 10, the airline will serve Long Island with direct flights to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach, Fla.
