Carlos Alcaraz Sends Warning to Rivals Ahead of the ATP Finals

By | November 2, 2024

In a confident statement ahead of the ATP Finals, Carlos Alcaraz has set his sights on clinching his 17th ATP title—and his first at an indoor event—this season. The 21-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a favorite in the upcoming indoor hard-court tournament after World No. 1 Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal.

The World No. 2, who narrowly missed the Paris Masters final in 2022 due to an injury-induced retirement in his quarterfinal match against Holger Rune, is looking to go further in 2024. His best result in Paris was the 2022 quarterfinal, while he reached the third round in 2021 and exited in the second round in 2023. Now in peak form, Alcaraz is firmly set on achieving victory in Paris-Bercy and continuing his impressive season at the ATP World Tour Finals.

Carlos Alcaraz is a man on a mission
Reflecting on his ambitions at the Paris Masters and the World Tour Finals, Alcaraz made his objectives very clear in an interview on Tennis TV. “To win every tournament I play. I think I’m playing great. I’m really proud of myself for the whole year,” he said. “I’m just really happy to get through the first set; it was really important for me to come into the second with a lot more confidence.”

Historic achievements have marked Alcaraz’s 2024 season. With titles at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, he holds four Grand Slam championships at just 21. Ranked World No. 2, he boasts a formidable 51-10 record for the season, including standout performances at the China Open, the Laver Cup, and the Indian Wells Masters. As he heads into the final tournaments, the El Palmar native looks to cap off a remarkable year by adding another ATP title and an indoor victory to his illustrious career.

He will also include the Davis Cup in his 2024 tennis calendar, the final ATP event of his idol, Rafael Nadal. He hopes to give the elder Spaniard a perfect send-off by winning a seventh Davis Cup title for his country and the first of his career.
