WestJet just unveiled its 2023 Christmas Miracle Campaign, titled Holiday Heroes. It highlights Canadians who work in the travel industry throughout the holidays to connect passengers with their families while being separated from their own. According to the airline, one in four Canadians will spend the holidays away from their loved ones. WestJet aims to use this year’s campaign to help put some of them together.

Jennifer Callegaro, Director of Marketing at WestJet, had this to say about the Holiday Heroes campaign:

“WestJet is proud to be part of a large community that works tirelessly through the holiday season to connect Canadians to the people and places that matter most to them. This year, our Christmas Miracle campaign acknowledges the many holiday heroes across the travel industry and gives them the best gift of all – time with their loved ones.”

Since our Holiday Heroes can’t make it home for the holidays, WestJet is flying out their families from across the globe to Canada. So far, the airline has facilitated three surprise reunions:

Ashley Springer, a Translink bus driver who often works over the holidays, takes pride in his work, knowing that he brings families together. WestJet flew out his sister Nikki and nephew Elijah from New York City.

Killian Kampes, a valet at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, thought he would be spending his second year in a row without seeing his family over the Christmas season, but was reunited with his mother and father, who WestJet flew over from Ireland.

Husan Gill, an AGI Ramp Agent at Vancouver International Airport who helps get luggage to and from planes, was reunited with her childhood best friend from Prince George.

WestJet is inviting the public to visit the Christmas Miracle Website and nominate their holiday heroes, who’ll be given the chance to connect with their family and friends.
