The merger, which was expected to cost $3,8 billion, was abandoned in March 2024 after the U.S. Department of Justice and a federal court halted the merger. Lawyers representing a group of 25 airline passengers and travel agents in an antitrust lawsuit claim their lawsuit was crucial to the merger’s failure.
