American Airlines’ Global Scholarship Program Recognizes Outstanding Students In 10 Countries

The American Airlines Education Foundation awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships to 336 students from 10 countries, supporting educational dreams worldwide.

The Education Foundation of American Airlines is committed to fostering the educational ambitions of employees’ children. This year, it allocated close to $1 million in grants to 336 students, continuing its mission to cultivate the next generation of leaders.

Each year, the foundation’s scholarship program presents $2,500 to qualifying full-time undergraduate students enrolled in any accredited global college, university, or vocational school. Furthermore, 103 students who are the first in their families to attend college were awarded an extra $1,000 to aid their distinct educational paths.

“We believe in the transformative power of education and are proud to support our community. We are honored to play a role in shaping brighter futures through education,” said Brady Byrnes, American’s Senior Vice President of Inflight and Premium Guest Services and President of the Education Foundation. “The Education Foundation reflects our steadfast dedication to our team members and their families.”

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the scholarship recipients from the Education Foundation of American Airlines spanned 10 countries, illustrating the broad international scope of our community. These students came from the United States, the Bahamas, Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, and the United Kingdom.

The selection process for these scholarships focuses on academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and financial necessity. Almost 1,400 students applied to this highly competitive program.

The application period for the 2025-2026 academic year will open in January.
